Ivan Wong


Ivan Wong is an American artist, musician and book producer whose career spans four decades.
In the 1970s as a student at the University of California, Los Angeles, Wong was the bassist in L.A.'s first homegrown ska band, The Boxboys, which became an integral part of the city's punk new wave scene. Wong studied with George Herms, Laddie John Dill, Vito Acconci and Alexis Smith, and in 1981 received a degree in painting from UCLA and moved to New York. There he studied painting at Columbia University and was the bassist in bands Little Shining Man and Voodoo X.
Since the early 1990s, Wong has produced hundreds of books with renowned artists and designers, including Irving Penn, Madonna, David LaChapelle, Albert Watson, Eiko Ishioka, Simon Doonan and Fabien Baron, and has worked with such companies as The New York Times, Vanity Fair and Vogue.

Wong lives and works in New York City, San Diego and Los Angeles.
