Jan Aling


Jan Aling was a Dutch road cyclist.

Career

Aling was born in Bunne. As an amateur cyclist, Aling was known for his strong sprint. He won several races including Omloop der Kempen, stages in the Milk race, stage in the Olympia's Tour and the Ronde van Overijssel. He became professional in 1974, and would be a professional until 1984. As a pro, the number of victories was no longer as high as in his amateur time. Although he won the “Grote Prijs Frans Verbeeck” and the “Ronde van de IJsselmonding”. He rode twice in the Vuelta a España.
Aling died in a hospital in Eindhoven on 9 May 2020, three days after having had a cardiac arrest, aged 70.
