Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Indore


, Indore is a part of the Navodaya Vidyalaya family in India. It is located in Manpur, about 45 kilometres from the city of Indore.

History

Established in 1987, under the Navodaya Vidyalaya policy, the school is co-educational and residential. This school is administered and monitored by Bhopal regional office of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. The school campus has a Kothi, which is more than 180 years old.

Affiliations

JNV Indore is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education with affiliation number 1040010, following the curriculum prescribed by CBSE.

Characteristics

The campus covers. All expenses including boarding, school uniforms, messing and education, are funded by the central government. The school has a deputy magistrate of Indore, as a chairman. The principal, the teachers and all staff are recruited by the Samiti.
The school was selected to launch Project Vidya by Intel. The school has a computer lab, a gym, a library with more than 10,000 books, a sports room and an arts room. There is a central mess, with two dining halls, one for boys, and the other for girls. There is a multipurpose playground and a separate Kho Kho ground.
There are four boys' hostels, and two girls' hostels. There are four houses - Aravali, Nilgiri, Shivalik and Udaygiri. All staff live on the campus itself. For each house, there are two house masters, one for juniors, and one for seniors.
