Jean Monty


Jean Monty, a Canadian executive, was the CEO of Nortel Networks from 1993 to 1997 and the chair and CEO of BCE from 1997 to 2002. He commanded both Bell and Nortel at their peak and succeeded by Michael Sabia and John Roth respectively.

Career at Bell and Nortel

Monty began his career at Bell Canada in 1974 and rose through the corporate ranks and with the Bell controlled Nortel.
Monty was born and raised in Montreal in 1947. He graduated from the College Sainte-Marie of Montreal, University of Western Ontario and the University of Chicago.
Monty has been on various corporate boards including Bombardier Inc.
