Jimmy Stein


James Stein was a Scottish professional association footballer who played as an outside left.

Career

Stein signed as a youngster with West Lothian clubs Bathgate and Broxburn and Lanarkshire team Dykehead, playing at centre-forward; he stayed locally in East Whitburn. He scored twice in a league game against Bo'ness and shortly afterwards on 24 October 1924, at the age of 19, he signed terms with Scottish Football League Division Two side Dunfermline Athletic. Dunfermline were promoted as Champions in season 1925–26 and during the next two seasons Stein made 61 appearances, scoring 10 goals, before signing for Everton in 1928. He was part of the Blues teams that won the Second Division, First Division and FA Cup in successive seasons between 1930 and 1933. He moved on to Burnley in October 1936 before ending his career at New Brighton.
