Joe Schomacker


Joseph "Joe" Roy Schomacker is a Minnesota politician and member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Republican Party of Minnesota, he represents District 22A, which includes all or portions of Cottonwood, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Nobles, Pipestone, and Rock counties in the southwestern part of the state. He is also an independent public relations consultant.

Education

Schomacker graduated from Luverne Senior High School in Luverne, then went on to Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, earning his B.A. in public administration, speech communication and political science in 2008. He served as the university's student body president from 2007-2008. In 2010, he earned his M.P.S. online from George Washington University, based in Washington, D.C.

Minnesota House of Representatives

Schomacker was first elected to the Minnesota House in 2010, fending off a challenge by former Rep. Ted Winter, winning the seat being vacated by Doug Magnus, who opted to run for the open Minnesota Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Jim Vickerman. He was re-elected in 2012 and 2014.
