John J. Gorman


John Jerome Gorman was a U.S. Representative from Illinois.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Gorman attended the common schools and the Bryant and Stratton Business College at Chicago, Illinois.
He served as clerk and letter carrier in the Chicago city post office 1902-1918.
He studied law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and graduated in 1914.
He was admitted to the bar in 1914 and commenced practice in Chicago.
He served as delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1920.
Gorman was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress.
He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection.
He resumed the practice of law at Chicago.
Gorman was elected to the Sixty-ninth Congress.
He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection.
He resumed the practice of law in Chicago, where he died February 24, 1949.
He was interred in All Saints Cemetery.
