Johnny Cannizzaro


Johnny Cannizzaro is an American stage, film and television actor and writer. He had a role in Clint Eastwood's Jersey Boys.

Early life

Cannizzaro was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. He is of Italian descent on both his mother and father's sides. He is one of three children including a twin brother. when the family relocated to suburban New Jersey at the age of five, he spent the majority of his adolescent years taking lessons in piano and performing in local community theater. After graduating from Holmdel High School in 2001 he began commuting to Manhattan for auditions. Originally training as a musical theatre performer, Cannizzaro transitioned to film and television acting when he moved to Los Angeles in 2005.

Career

In 2014, Cannizzaro filmed a guest star role playing 'Franco', an auto body mechanic in USA Networks drama 'Colony' starring 'Lost' alum Josh Holloway.
Cannizzaro recently produced and starred in the independent film 'The Obituary' opposite General Hospital alum Anthony Geary.
In 2013, director Clint Eastwood cast Cannizzaro to play the supporting role of Nick Devito in the film adaptation of Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Jersey Boys.
In Dec of 2013, Cannizzaro made his network television debut appearing in the series premiere of Frank Darabont's highly anticipated 1940's gangster drama Mob City which aired on TNT. His character spoke the first lines of the entire series and was also the first to get murdered.
In 2012, Cannizzaro played Ronnie Fusto in a "A Ring in Brooklyn", a stage musical by Alan Fleishman and Eric Dodson at the Noho Arts Center in North Hollywood, Ca.
In 2010, Johnny was featured in a brand new production of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods in Los Angeles starring General Hospital's Anthony Geary.
Johnny recorded an original song for Richard M. Sherman, Academy Award winning Disney songwriter and composer of Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book etc.
