Jonathan Tepperman Jonathan Tepperman is an author and journalist. He is currently the Editor in Chief of Foreign Policy magazine. He served as Managing Editor of Foreign Affairs —the magazine published by the New York–based Council on Foreign Relations— from 2011 - 2017.Early Life Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada , he lives in Brooklyn with his family. Tepperman is Jewish.Career Tepperman was first hired by Foreign Affairs in 1998 by Fareed Zakaria and spent several years at the magazine as a junior editor before moving on to Newsweek . There he was Deputy Editor for the international edition, ran the Asia, Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America sections, and wrote cover stories, opinion pieces, and a style column. He has also worked in political-risk consulting, as a reporter in Israel, and as a speechwriter for Morris B. Abram, a former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Human Rights Council . at the Halifax International Security Forum 2014 Tepperman writes frequently for a range of publications. In 2013, he was a guest columnist for the International New York Times .
