Joseph McCarthy (lyricist)
Joseph McCarthy was an American lyricist whose most famous songs include "You Made Me Love You", and "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows", from the now-forgotten Oh, Look!, starring the Dolly Sisters, based upon the haunting melody from the middle section of Chopin's Fantaisie-Impromptu.
Born Thomas Joseph McCarthy, in the Massachusetts city of Somerville, McCarthy was a frequent collaborator of composers Harry Tierney and Fred Fisher. He was the director of ASCAP from 1921 to 1929.Music score
