Juan Ramírez de Lucas


Juan Ramírez de Lucas, born in Albacete in 1917, died in Madrid in 2010 was a Spanish writer and journalist. He was the partner of Federico García Lorca.

Biography

Interested in , Ramírez de Lucas was critic of art for reviews such as Arquitectura in Madrid, and critic of architecture for newspapers ABC and Arte y Cemento.
He was, at 19, the partner of Federico García Lorca. The couple met in Madrid, during the Second Spanish Republic. Lorca called him "El rubio de Albacete".
Ramírez de Lucas was the last one to receive a letter from the poet, on July 1936, before his assassination. In fear of the fascist victory in Spain, the couple wanted to go away in Mexico.

Legacy

The couple inspired the David Morales show at Carnegie Hall in 2015, with Miguel Poveda as guest.
