One evening, Thoma consumes liquor as usual from Vasu's toddy shop. While conversation was going on in the toddy shop, Thoma proclaims that he is not afraid of anything. To which another consumer asks him to go to his house via Ammankavu, which has been a source of fear for the villagers at night. Though Vasu insists Thoma to wait till he shuts down the shop, so that they can leave together, Thoma is reluctant and leaves alone. Despite having an alternate path to reach home, Thoma prefers to go via Ammankavu that night. The next day morning, adding to the list of mysterious murders the villagers find Thoma's corpse in Ammankavu premises. Vasu, who was the caretaker of Sadan's house writes to Sadan about selling his house, which has been kept locked for years with people believing that it has been haunted. After the death of his parents at a younger age, Sadan was taken away to another place, where he grew in the company of Ikkaka, Joseph and Zacharia. Though each of them is now at different locations engaged in their respective jobs, they all get together when Sadan wants them to join him to visit his native place after many long years. Four of them come to Sadan's and stay in his house. Zacharia, whose father too was a spiritual magician, smells something fishy over there and starts off with some rituals and poojas. One night, he hears a lady's crying sound, and then follows it. On enquiring that voice replies that it is Ammankavu Goddess, and he has been kept in custody by a lady living over there. Just before Zacharia could ask anything else, Joseph comes to the scene and they could not hear the voice any further. Scaria smells something fishy over there and advises his friends not to go outside after evening hours. Sadan was given the task of cooking in the house. Joseph's task was to buy grocery items, whereas Scaria was busy with performing rituals in the house. Joseph was interested in roaming here and there. Sadan gets interested in a lady at the market selling vegetables, who is later found to be the daughter of Vasu. Though Joseph was initially interested in Vasu's wife Gomathy, after knowing Sadan's affair, he stays out. Zacharia happens to get a literary composition of mantras in Sanskrit from the house. He seeks the help of a teacher Kalika, who stays nearby to get this translated, so that he can use them. Kalika warns him that a small mistake in reciting will have a very bad impact. Joseph falls for Kalika. Even after conducting a vasectomy, Gomathy becomes pregnant. Zacharia has some doubts whether there is something wrong with his rituals nowadays. Joseph also smells something wrong at Kalika's house, but he is too much interested in her. One day Vasu tells that Gomathy is not well and everything happened after she ate the fruit given by Kalika. Zacharia examines her and then goes to bring his father for performing further rituals. He tells Ikkaka and Sadan not to get out of their house and also to keep an eye on Joseph. However, when Kalika's servant comes at night and invites Joseph, he leaves secretly to her house. Joseph gets killed in the hands of Kalika, just before Zacharia reaches there with his father. Zacharia's father performs the rituals and poojas and frees the spirits kept in custody by Kalika. Since Kalika has to lose her chastity also to get rid of her negative powers forever, Ikkaka rapes her, and so all tasks are completed. However Ikkaka feels much guilty about the rape, and he was willing to accept her. Zacharia's father tells him the story of how Kalika was born. She was born as a normal girl. Ever since the death of her father, she and her bed-ridden mother was taken care by one of her relative who was a drunkard. He molested her few times and this installed a desire for revenge in her. She was given certain mantras by her mother and then she was practising them for years and become a virgin. Since she presumed every man to be bad, he used to kill people who came to Ammankavu during late night when she performs her rituals at the temple. The next day morning they are informed that Kalika committed suicide. Ikkaka, Zacharia and his father takes leave with Sadan remaining in his house with his love waiting him outside the house.
