History
Kamikitachō Station was opened on September 1, 1891 as Numazaki Station on the Nippon Railway. It became a station on the Tōhoku Main Line of the Japanese Government Railways, the pre-war predecessor to the Japan National Railway, on July 1, 1906. On October 1, 1959, the station was renamed to its present name. With the privatization of the JNR on April 1, 1987, it came under the operational control of East Japan Railway Company.
