Kanyapur Polytechnic is a technical school located in the city of Asansol, Paschim Bardhaman district, West Bengal, India. It is affiliated with the West Bengal State Council of Technical Education, and approved by the All India Council For Technical Education provides diploma level technical education to its students. The foundation stone of this institute was laid in the year 1962 by the then distinguished industrialist respected Late Shri Sudhir Kumar Sen in the outskirts of Asansol. Shri Sudhir Kumar Sen was also founder of world class cycle manufacturer factory popularly known as Raleigh Cycle. Later with the aim of impart education among the children of this localities Shri Sen established Kanyapur Education Society under the umbrella of which a technical education institute was established on 16th July,1965 named as Sudhir Sen Polytechnic. At that time three years diploma course of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering were stated. After few years this institute offered four years Licencing course in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. After thirteen years of its inception this polytechnic was undertaken by Government of West Bengal on 17th May 1979. Since then this technical institute name is Kanyapur Polytechnic. Honourable Shri B.Bari was the first principle of this polytechnic after government undertaken.Diploma course in Computer Science & Technology was started in the year 2007. At present this polytechnic offers three years diploma course in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science & Technology.

Admission in the first year and second year to the diploma courses are based on the merit list of JEXPO and VOCLET exam respectively conducted by West Bengal State Council of Technical Education.
Location
The institute is located about northwest of Kolkata, on the northan side of Grand Trunk Road. The nearest airport is at Durgapur about one hours' drive through NH2. Asansol is well connected through rail and road with the rest of India.
Library
In college, there is a library. The students can issue trade wise textbooks for a certain period of time. The library has also plenty of seating capacity for studying inside. Most of the textbooks of all departments are available in the library. The library is really very helpful for needy students. Every student can issue two textbooks for every semester and can read any books inside the library. The library also provides access to different magazines and newspapers.
