Kappadu


Kappadu is a sub urban area of Kanjirappally in Kottayam district, Kerala, India.

Location

Kappadu is 6 km from Kanjirappally, situated between Kanjirappally and Erattupetta.

Economy

Agriculture is the main source of income. Rubber, coffee,and tapioca are cultivated here. Many families of this region has their family members working in the United States and Europe, which provides a substantial income to the people.

Celebrities

The Parish of Kappadu, Holy Cross Church is one of the recent Pilgrimage Church in Kanjirappally Diocese with having the relics of very holy "Cross". It includes the regions of Thumpamada, Vandanamala, Moozhikkadu, Maanjukkulam, 3rd mile, Kozhiyaani etc. Here majority of the people are of Christians and Hindus. Also Kappadu may be the place having the most number of monasteries namely CMI Study Center, Benedictan Ashram,Jyothi Bhavan, Aaradhana Convent etc. Main cultivation being the Rubber and the term "Achayans" is being used for the planters here.
