Karen Azoulay


Karen Azoulay is a multidisciplinary visual and performance artist from Toronto, Canada. She is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.

Artistic practice

Azoulay’s artwork includes colourful sculpture, performance, installations and fashion design. Her artwork often incorporates elements of traditional femininity, such as sewing, needlework, and floral imagery.

Fashion

Azoulay's practice includes fashion design, as well as visuals for the windows of department stores. In 2008, the artist collaborated with fashion designer Jeremy Laing on a collection of printed pieces. Also, in collaboration with her husband, George McCracken, she produced a limited-run jacket with her signature "Floriography" embroidery.
