Kathleen George


Kathleen Elizabeth George is an American professor and writer best known for her series of crime novels set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She teaches theatre arts at the University of Pittsburgh and fiction writing at the Chatham University Low-Residency MFA Program in Creative Writing.

Early life and education

She was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and educated at the University of Pittsburgh: B.A. in English, M.A. in theatre arts, Ph.D. in theatre arts, and M.F.A. in creative writing.

Personal life

Her husband was writer Hilary Masters, a professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University and son of Edgar Lee Masters, until his death on June 14, 2015.
She lives in Pittsburgh's Mexican War Streets.
