Katok Secondary School

Katok Secondary School is a government secondary school in Brunei-Muara District, Brunei. It is located in Katok 'B' or the Mata-Mata housing area of the Landless Indigenous Citizens' Housing Scheme, a residential area on the outskirts of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. The school provides secondary education leading up to GCE 'O' Level and IGCSE qualifications.

History

Katok Secondary School was established in 2014. However, the campus has existed beforehand, where it housed the former Katok Sixth Form Centre from 2008. The establishment of Katok Secondary School was intended to ease overcrowding at Menglait Secondary School and made possible with the relocation of the sixth form to Sengkurong Sixth Form Centre at the same time as the establishment of the secondary school.

Academics

Secondary education at Katok Secondary School generally lasts five years, although four years are also possible through the 'Express' stream. Schooling starts in Year 7. In lower secondary, students are assessed through Student Progress Assessment, which shall determine whether they will proceed to two or three years for upper secondary, as well as the range of subjects that may be offered then. At the end of Year 11, students sit for O Level and/or IGCSE examination. Students may then continue into sixth form or proceed to vocational education.
