Kevin Phillips (ice hockey)


Kevin Phillips is an English professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the Hull Pirates of the NIHL. He has also played for the Great Britain national ice hockey team.
Phillips, a former Great Britain national team member at Jr. and Sr. level, spent a pair of seasons at Belfast Giants where he iced 117 games, registering 7 goals and 24 points in addition to an extra 3 games of Continental Cup play where he added 2 more assists. He has played over 400 Elite League games between the Giants, Braehead Clan, Hull Stingrays, Guildford Flames and a brief stint with London Racers.
He began his senior career in 2002–2003 with Hull Thunder of the now defunct British National League. He remained in Hull for their conversion to Stingrays in 2004–2005, their move to the English Premier League the season after that, and their subsequent transfer to the EIHL in 2006–2007.
He joined the English Premier League Slough Jets in 2007–2008 and iced nearly 100 games over a couple of seasons, registering 18 goals and 54 points while helping them to the Playoff title during his opening stint. He played one EIHL game with Basingstoke Bison during this period.
Phillips made his Giants debut in 2009–2010 before moving on to Braehead for the next three seasons, returning to Belfast in 2013. His Irish residency was a successful one with a Playoff title in 2009–2010 and a League championship in 2013–2014. Internationally, he has a Gold medal from the 2003–2004 under 18 tournament and Under 20 Gold in ’03-’04 and ’05-’06. He made his senior debut on the national stage in 2004–2005 and returned to the big team in 2009–2010, experiencing 10 senior world championship caps along the way.
He subsequently iced for the Guildford Flames, staying with the team when they moved up to the Elite League in 2017, before moving to Hull Pirates in 2018.
