Kowloon East (constituency)

The Kowloon East geographical constituency is one of the five geographical constituencies in the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. It currently elects 5 Members of the Legislative Council using the Hare quota of party-list proportional representation. The constituency corresponds to the today's districts of Wong Tai Sin and Kwun Tong.

History

The constituency was formed for the 1998 legislative election, replacing a number of single-member constituencies used until 1995. These were Kowloon East and Kowloon South-east, Kowloon North-east, Kowloon Central and parts of Kowloon South. From 1985 to 1991 the seats were elected by electoral colleges composed of the members of the district boards and Urban Council.
