Kunovice (Uherské Hradiště District)


Kunovice is a town in the Uherské Hradiště District, Zlín Region, Czech Republic.

History

The first written records of Kunovice date back to 1196.
Until 1918, Kunowitz - Kunovice was part of the Austrian monarchy, in the Ungarisch Hradisch - Uherské Hradiště district, one of the 34 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Moravia.
A post office was opened in 1869. Kunovice gained the official status of a town in 1997.

Economy

Since 1936, aircraft manufacturer Aircraft Industries has been based at Kunovice Airport near the town. The airport also hosts aircraft manufacturers Czech Sport Aircraft and Evektor-Aerotechnik. It is designated as an international airport.

Points of interest

A main tourist attraction in Kunovice is the Kunovice Aviation Museum, located at the town's airport.
