Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School


Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School is a co-educational secondary school located in Bishan, Singapore. The school was established in 1988 and founded in 1934 through the merger of Kuo Chuan Girls' School and Presbyterian Boys' School.

History

The school was first established in 1988, formed by the merger of Kuo Chuan Girls' School and Presbyterian Boys' School, and moved into a S$10 million campus in June that year.

Identity and culture

Crest

The school crest depicts a book rested on top of a shield set in dark blue with white streaks radiating from it. The shield consists of a band of gold above a burning bush. All of this is then encircled by the school motto.
The book represents the Bible, the band of gold the light of God, the dark blue the stability of Christianity and the white God's purity and grace.

Motto

The school's motto, "Aflame for Truth", sets out to remind students of the school to be truthful in their words, thoughts and actions.

Co-curricular activities

The school offers 21 extra-curricular activities, labelled as co-curricular activities by the Ministry of Education. These include sports, uniformed groups, performing arts, clubs and societies. Several of these have performed well in outside competitions.
The school's uniformed groups have been able to achieve much over the past few years, with its National Police Cadet Corps unit attained Gold for the Unit Overall Proficiency Award in 2017 and 2016, and Silver in 2015 and 2014. Its Girl Guides unit also attained Gold for the Puan Noor Aisah Award in 2017, 2016 and 2015.
Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary's soccer team has gotten third place in the second tier league, in 2017.
