Kurdish tribes

The following is a list of tribes of Kurdish people from the geo-cultural region of Kurdistan and other regions.

Armenia and Georgia

While Armenia has had a Kurdish presence since around the 15th century, most Kurdish tribes in Armenia and Georgia fled the Kars and Van areas in the Ottoman Empire due to oppression from 1916 to 1918. Entering the Russian Empire, they appealed for protection from the Tsar and were eventually settled in Armenia and Georgia. Since then, the unique traditions among the different tribes have been weakened albeit continued strong tribal identities and about 50,000 to 60,000 have migrated to Germany. Many have moved to Russia as well.
The present tribes are listed below:

Azerbaijan

A large portion of the centuries-old Kurdish population in present-day Azerbaijan was deported by the Soviet Union to Central Asia from the 1930s on. The remaining Kurdish population in the former Red Kurdistan was displaced by the Armenian Army during the Nagorno-Karabakh War, while the ones in Azerbaijan proper became heavily assimilated into Azerbaijani culture.
The information on the tribes in Azerbaijan is from 1936:
