Léman International School - Chengdu


Léman International School - Chengdu is an for-profit international school at 1080# Da'an Road, Zhengxing County, Shuangliu District, Chengdu, China, within the Tianfu New Area development. A part of the Nord Anglia Education network, it serves levels Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12.

History

The school was opened in 2009. The total investment of the school is about 2 million RMB. The school was approved as the international school for foreigners by the Chinese Ministry of Education in December 2011. The school became part of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools in 2015 after NAE acquired it from Meritas LLC. Nord Anglia Education has 61 international schools around the world in Asia, Europe, the Middle East and America. These independent international schools teach over 61,000 pupils worldwide as of March 2019.
In August 2014 the school received authorization for the International Baccalaureate programme.

Curriculum

Léman International School - Chengdu has students from 30 different countries and uses International Primary Curriculum for primary school. The IPC is currently adopted by 1000 schools in 65 countries. The Middle School is based upon the extended version of the IPC known as the International Middle Years Curriculum. Grades 9 and 10 have a pre-IB/pre-AP curriculum with high level academics being the focus. The school offers IB Diploma for Grade 11 and 12. In August 2014, the school received authorization from the International Baccalaureate programme and has its first graduating class in 2016 consisting of 3 students. Léman International School also has compulsory music performance participation.
The school includes a section for German students, as well as one for French students.

Themed events

The school offers themed events such as Challenge Week, Duke of Edinburgh, Explore China Trip, Literacy Week, Numeracy Week, International Day, Concert and etc.

Extra-curricular activities

The school offers three obligatory sessions of clubs a school year which offer lots of activities for students during Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Clubs include a range of sport, dance, languages, science, photography, gardening, swimming, tennis, martial arts, a range of music groups and many more.

Accreditations

Léman International School - Chengdu is accredited to offer the IB Diploma Programme and an accredited test center for SAT.
The school is accredited the Association of China and Mongolian International Schools, and has recently experienced the second positive joint visit from Council of International Schools and New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
