Ladol, Alabel


Ladol is a barangay in the Municipality of Alabel, Sarangani Province, Philippines. Philippine Standard Geographic Code of Baranga Ladol was 128001013 and by PSGC as Urban barangay.

Political History

The first barangay captain of Barangay Ladol was Wilfredo Suizo.
The newly created Barangay Ladol was originally part of Barangay Poblacion, its mother barangay.

Economy

The main source of income of the barangay basically came from the sea. People in Barangay Ladol were mostly in line with their livelihood in fishing and boat making. Seafood was abundant.
Rice fields and coconut plantation were an additional source of income for the people.

Tourism

The Ladol Beach was the main tourist hub in Alabel. The fine black sand and free entrance fee invite tourists to visit Alabel especially Barangay Ladol. From Poblacion, Alabel, a tourist needs to ride a tricycle to reach the beach paying only P 10.00 each. Agricultural and aqua-cultural tour were some feature the Municipal Tourism office of Alabel showcased to the local and foreign tourist.

Environmental Issues

The improper garbage disposal, as well as their waste, became a major environmental problem in the barangay. The Municipal Health Office organized an Educational campaign to the local since 2005. The increasing population saw to be the main reason for this issue.
Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, launched clean-up drive and environmental/waste management seminars. The Barangay Committee were in charge to facilitate this campaign to preserve the biodiversity in the area.

Religion

Majority of the inhabitants were Catholic.
The Aglipayan Parish of St John the Baptist at Ladol, pastored by Bishop Esteban Valmera, was baptized. After a long period of catechism, their whole parish enters the Orthodox Church, with their bishop being baptized alongside everyone else.

Education

Ladol Elementary School was the only elementary school in Ladol. This is a public elementary school located at Purok Ladol, Barangay Poblacion, Alabel, Sarangani, Philippines.

In 2013, a panic happened because of false Tsunami warning.
