Les Eaves


Leslie Dale Eaves, is a businessman from Searcy, Arkansas, who is a Republican member of the Arkansas House of Representatives for District 46 in a portion of White County near Little Rock.

Background

Eaves was born in Conway in Faulkner County near Little Rock. As a youth, he moved with his mother to Arlington, Texas, where he graduated from high school and studied at the University of Texas. He was employed at Arlington Printing and worked there as a real estate broker. He holds a degree in Business Management from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Eaves is the vice president of Delta Manufacturing Company in Newport, Arkansas, a company begun by his father. He is a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers.
Eaves and his wife, Denice Christine Eaves, have three children. He is a Methodist. He formerly resided in Arlington, Texas.

Political life

In 2014, Eaves won the District 46 seat vacated by the Republican Mark Biviano, who did not seek a third term in the legislature. In the May 20 Republican primary election, a low-turnout contest, Eaves defeated his intra-party rival, Kyle Reeves, 2,158 to 1,261. He was then unopposed in the November 4 general election. Eaves is assigned to House committees on: Revenue and Taxation and City, County, and Local Affairs.
In February 2015, Eaves joined dozens of his fellow Republicans and two Democrats in co-sponsoring legislation submitted by Representative Lane Jean of Magnolia, to reduce unemployment compensation benefits. The measure was promptly signed into law by Governor Asa Hutchinson.
