Leslie Owen
Leslie Owen was an Anglican bishop.
Owen was educated at Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood. He studied at St John's College, Cambridge and Ely Theological College.
He was ordained in 1912 and was first a curate at Ashford, Kent, after which he became a chaplain to the British Armed Forces during the First World War. When peace returned he became a lecturer at Bishop's College, Cheshunt and then Warden of the Scholar Cancellarii, Lincoln. Appointed Archdeacon of Auckland in 1936, he was ordained to the Episcopate as Bishop of Jarrow three years later. He was translated to be the Bishop of Maidstone five years later. His final position was as Bishop of Lincoln but he died less than a year after the naming, after a short illness.
