Liam Heffernan


Liam Heffernan is an Irish actor, musician and singer best known for his lead role in the critically acclaimed The Clash of the Ash, and later as Blackie Connors in the long running RTÉ television drama series Glenroe. Born in Cork city, Heffernan's acting career began in 1984 with appearances in various theater parts. He moved to Dublin in 1986, and played roles in films The Stranger Within and The Boy from Mercury, and has featured in multiple stage productions and television dramas.
Heffernan's music career began as the guitarist with the early 1980s Cork band Mean Features, who were active during the Cork city post-punk scene centered around the Arcadia Ballroom, and were included on the seminal 1981 live compilation Kaught at the Kampus.
He is currently the singer and a guitarist with the band Big Boy Foolish, with guitarist Ricky Dineen, formerly of Five Go Down to the Sea?. In June 2020, they released their debut single "Horsey!", described by Mike McGrath Bryan of The Evening Echo as continuing the band "along a grinning, black-humored trajectory". A second single, "Up the Airy", is planned for later in 2020.
