Lionel Hicks
Lionel Hicks is an English film producer, record producer, and musician.
Hicks was born in Lincoln, England. Prior to his work in film, Hicks was known as a rock drummer and toured the world with many bands. He also became a record producer. Over two decades, Hicks produced many internationally released albums and was responsible for setting up several recording studios in the late 1990s, one of them he still owns, 'Winterland Studios' in Minneapolis, United States. He has worked with The Black Eyed Peas, Lenny Kravitz, Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Jessica Simpson, R Kelly, James Blunt and Keane, amongst others. He also produced When the World Falls Down, Ten More Tales of Grand Illusion, Perfect Balance, Heathen Machine, Heathenology and Book of Secrets albums for Balance Of Power.
Having made the transition to film, Hicks has produced fourteen feature films, notable credits including the vampire horror film Temptation feature-length documentaries London Tango, And the Beat Goes On and the thriller Four, which had a theatrical release in 2011. In 2013, Hicks produced the sci-fi thriller Scintilla The Hybrid, which was released worldwide in 2014. He also finished production on feature comedy drama, Almost Married, that was released theatrically in 2014. In this year Hicks teamed up with Biff Byford of Saxon, record producer Andy Sneap and Tony Richie of Balance Of Power, to make a project concept album titled The Scintilla Project. The album was inspired by the feature film that Hicks had produced. He is a company director of Tested Films and CEO of Liquid Noise Ltd.
