Lionel Ott


Lionel Gordon Ott was an accountant and a Democratic politician from New Orleans, Louisiana, who served in the 20th century as a state senator and as a member of the New Orleans City Council.

Biography

Ott was born in the unincorporated community of Mount Hermon in Washington Parish in southeastern Louisiana, one of the Florida Parishes. He was the sixth of ten children, born to Elbert Weston Ott of Mount Hermon, Louisiana, who was of German and French descent, and the former Martha Estelle Leggett. He had no children. He is interred beside his second wife at Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.
Ott's papers are housed at the New Orleans Public Library.
