List of 17th-century lunar eclipses

The following is a list of 17th-century lunar eclipses. This list of 250 lunar eclipses was calculated by Fred Espenak of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra. This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, or very closely so, with the Earth in the middle. Hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes.
It is one of several such lists, including the list of 16th-century lunar eclipses, and list of 18th-century lunar eclipses
