List of Hangul jamo
This is the list of Korean alphabet jamo including obsolete ones. This list contains information of location in Unicode mapping.
"Hanyang Private Use" is mapping system which is used in Hangeul Office word processor. This system maps old Hangeul to the Private Use Area in Unicode. Since Hangeul Office 2010, Hanyang PUA code was deprecated and replaced with the standard Unicode encoding approach. Also Unicode defines some compatibility jamos for additional pairs of consonants, or pairs of vowels.
Code points in were added in Unicode 5.2. They should normally be displayed in the same syllabic square, but unupdated browsers may only show them in their decomposed form as separate jamos if there are no new fonts installed on the system to render them correctly.
Code points in were corrected in Unicode 5.1 and .
Code points highlighted with are part of the modern Hangul subset which are arithmetically composable to canonically equivalent Hangul syllables in U+AC00..U+D7AF:
- U+1100..U+1112: 18 modern Hangul leading consonant jamos
- U+1161..U+1175: 21 modern Hangul vowel jamos
- U+11A8..U+11C2: 27 modern Hangul trailing consonant jamos
- All other jamos are used less frequently in modern Korean, or were used historically. Within them, the Hangul Compatibility characters are normally not reliably composable into syllabic squares, but they are used in legacy applications which cannot support or render the full Hangul syllable set such as low cost terminals or old printers: these compatibility characters may exist either in fullwidth variant, or in half-width variants.
Consonants
Note that in the table below, the "Jamo" column show the consonants with their leading variant when they exist and are encoded in Unicode, otherwise they show their trailing variant only, or the Hangul compatibility jamo if they don't exist as standard jamos.Shortcuts: [|ㄱ] [|ㄴ] [|ㄷ] [|ㄹ] [|ㅁ] [|ㅂ] [|ㅅ] [|ㅿ] [|ㅇ] [|ㆁ] [|ㅈ] [|ㅊ] [|ㅋ] [|ㅌ] [|ㅍ] [|ㅎ] [|ㆆ]

Other characters
These are not jamos, but are used in combination with other Hangul jamos and syllables.- Fillers: these are needed to allow correct processing of syllable separations and correct rendering of syllabic clusters in composition squares
- * Hangul Jamo Area: U+115F, U+1160
- * Hangul Compatibility: U+3164
- * Hanyang Private Use: U+F784, U+F806, U+F86A
- * Halfwidth Jamo: U+FFA0
- Tone marks : were used in Middle Korean, written to the left of the syllabic cluster, and was used with the vertical presentation; for example in the Eonhaebon version :
- * Single dot "ᅟ〮" : U+302E ; do not confuse it with the "ㆍ" extended vowel jamo which is used in a medial or final position of a syllabic cluster
- * Double dot "ᅟ〯" : U+302F
- * The absence of tone mark implied the low tone.
- : Notes: These tone marks are normally encoded in Unicode after the vowel they modify but they will be rendered by reordering to the left of the first leading consonants of the syllabic cluster.
- : They were first encoded in Unicode as non-spacing combining marks, due to their most common and historic use with the vertical presentation, but they still need to have a positive advance-width to render Middle Korean texts in the modern horizontal presentation ; their general category was letter changed from Mn to Mc, even if they don't add any advance-width in the traditional vertical presentation.
- : Legacy encodings before they were encoded in Unicode, or if fonts did not provide the glyph for them, used generic punctuations encoded before the cluster.
