List of Minnesota State High School League State Championships (Fall)


The Minnesota State High School League conducts championships for high school sports in Minnesota. Here is a list of past fall sports champions.

Girls Tennis

  1. Girls tennis was not separated into a class system until the fall of 1978.

    Boys Soccer

  2. Boys soccer was not separated into a class system until the fall of 1997.
Championship played at Metrodome from 1986 to 2013.
Championship now played at US Bank Stadium since 2016

  1. Girls soccer was not separated into a class system until the fall of 1997.
Championship played at Metrodome since 1986.

Boys Cross Country Running

  1. Boys cross country was not split into a class system until the 1975 season.

    Girls Cross Country Running

  2. Girls cross country was not split into a class system until the 1978 season.

    Girls Volleyball

  3. After one season, girls volleyball was split into two classes, AA and A beginning in 1975. In 1999, another classes was added, with AAA consisting of the largest schools.

Football

  1. From 1972 to 1996 the class system was organized into AA, A, B, C, 9-man, with AA being the largest school. In 1997 the class system changed the B and C classes to 2A and 1A respectively and added a new class, 5A, which includes the largest schools. In 2012 a new class was added for the largest schools 6A. Since 1982 all championship games have been held in Minneapolis, under the title Prep Bowl.

  2. No state championship was held between 1943 and 1974.
