On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 89 out of 100, based on 46 critics, indicating "universal acclaim". The film was entered into competition for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. It had a leading number of nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards with four, including Best Film.
