List of churches in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans


This is a list of churches in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New Orleans. The archdiocese encompasses eight civil parishes in Louisiana: Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, and Washington. There are 108 parishes within the archdiocese. As of June 1, 2009, the archdiocese's parishes are organized into ten deaneries.

Non-parish churches

University campus ministry centers

and the University of New Orleans have campus ministry centers: St. Thomas More and St. Thomas the Apostle, respectively. They were parishes until 2008.

Suppressed parishes

In 2008 the archdiocese had a plan to close 22 churches, with 16 of them in New Orleans.

Ave Maria Chapel
On October 21, 1912, it received its dedication ceremony. It was the first Catholic worship center in its neighborhood. A September 29, 1915 weather event destroyed the building.

Blessed Sacrament
The final church service was held on August 17, 2008. St. Joan of Arc Church in Carrollton took the members of its congregation. By 2011 the archdiocese opened the church property to lease and it listed the rectory for sale.
Uptown New Orleans2008
Epiphany of Our Lord Church
It was built in 1948, and closed after Hurricane Katrina. Corpus Christi Church took the parishioners.

Holy Guardian Angels
The church building remained, but it became a part of Our Lady of Prompt Succor.
