Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011


Lithuania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany, selecting their entry through a series of semifinals and a televised national final. This was the country's twelfth participation in the contest.

Before Eurovision

Participation

On 12 November 2010, LRT announced that a final decision about the participation in Düsseldorf is expected to be made by 26 November. Lithuanian Head of Delegation Audrius Girzadas said, that the likelihood for Lithuania to participate in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest "is 90%". LRT confirmed its participation on 24 November 2010.

Eurovizija 2011

Three semi-finals were aired and the top three from each semi-final advanced to the final. The results of the semi-finals were determined by a 50/50 combination of votes from a jury panel and public televoting. LRT also selected three wildcard acts for the final out of the remaining non-qualifying acts from the semi-finals. An additional wildcard act was selected from an online wildcard round which took place at the website zebra.lt. The winning song in the final was selected over two rounds of voting: the first round results were determined by the 50/50 combination from a jury panel and public televoting, while the second round was determined solely by the jury panel.

Competing entries

LRT received a total of 70 submissions, and 44 of them were chosen to compete at the selection.

Semi-final 1

The first semi-final was aired on 5 February 2011.

Semi-final 2

The second semi-final was aired on 5 February 2011.

Semi-final 3

The third semi-final was aired on 19 February 2011.

Final

The final took place on 24 February 2011 at the LRT TV Studios in Vilnius, hosted by Giedrius Masalskis. The nine entries that qualified from each of the three preceding semi-finals and four wildcards from the eliminated entries, all together thirteen songs, competed during the show. The winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, a jury and public televote determined the top three entries to proceed to the superfinal. In the superfinal, the winner was selected entirely by the jury vote.

At Eurovision

Lithuania started their Eurovision campaign by performing in starting position 17 in the first semifinal on 10 May 2011. Evelina sang "C'est ma vie" which was performed very well. She managed 5th place in the semi-final, with 81 points, earning her a spot in the final on Saturday night. In the first semi-final, Lithuania placed first with the jury, receiving 113 points and eleventh place with the televote vote with 52 points. After the close of the first semi, Lithuania drew position 4 in the grand final on May 14, 2011. Another strong performance by Evelina on Saturday was not reflected in the votes, only managing 19th place with 63 points. Lithuania placed twentieth with the public televote receiving 55 points and twentieth with the jury vote with 66 points.
