Little Bangladesh, Los Angeles


Little Bangladesh is a neighborhood is Los Angeles, California surrounded by Koreatown. It is the cultural and culinary hub of LA's Bangladeshi community. Designation of the neighborhood as “Little Bangladesh” caused some friction with the some Korean-Americans in Los Angeles, who considered the area as a part of Koreatown.

Geography

Little Bangladesh is four-block area around 3rd Street and Alexandria Avenue in Central Los Angeles, officially designated by the City of Los Angeles in 2010. The area includes restaurants, shops and art galleries but also has a residential neighborhood with a low-income and mid to aging population of about 100 residents.

Demographics

The 2000 census showed a Bangladeshi population of 1,700 in Los Angeles County.
