Long Way

Long Way is the second and final studio album by hard rock/heavy metal band Child's Play, released in 1990 through Chriplus Records. It was self-produced by John Allen and Nicky Kay. It is the first and only album to feature new vocalist, Tommy McRae who replaced founding member Brian Jack, who left to pursue a solo career. Because Jack had been a fan favorite, there was much speculation as to how well the band would be received with McRae as the new singer. All concerns were quelled when the title track from Long Way was released to radio and quickly became the number one requested song in the Baltimore area. In addition to Long Way, three other singles from the album also received significant radio airplay: "Foolish Pride", "I Can't Believe", and a live version of "Wind" — a single from the previous album, Rat Race. Each of these became a number one requested song as well. The track "Never Make It On Time" was recorded during the Rat Race sessions, but was left off the album and was included on this one. It is the only track on the album to feature Brian Jack, who provided backing vocals and rhythm guitar. The band toured extensively, but despite enormous regional success, national success proved elusive and the band broke up two years late in 1995.
