Louis III, Count of Looz
Louis III, Count of Rieneck and Count of Loon. He was the son of Gérard III, Count of Rieneck, and Cunegonde von Zimmern.
Upon the death of his father, he was too young to lead the county of Rieneck and it was his uncle Arnold III became count, and Louis III became Viscount of Mainz. Similarly, with the death of his uncle Louis II in 1218, it was his uncles Henry and Arnold III who succeeded him in Loon.
Loon eventually became a county of Louis III's younger brother Arnold IV, Count of Loon. Louis III had children and his descendants continued to be counts of Rieneck.
Vaes says he married Adelheid of Henneburg and they had the following children:
- Ludwig III, count of Rieneck. Married Udehilt of Grumbach and Rothenfels. Their son Ludwig was also count, but had no children.
- Gerhard IV, count of Rieneck. Married Adelheid of Hohenlohe-Brauneck. Ancestors of later counts of Rieneck.
- Siboto, count of Rieneck, died after 1251.
- Heinrich II, count of Rieneck.
