Love over Gold Tour Love over Gold Tourconcert tour by British rock band Dire Straits of Europe, Australia, New Zealand , and Japan. The tour started on 30 November 1982 in Guildford, England , included 92 concerts in 61 cities, and ended on 23 July 1983 in London. The tour promoted and supported the group's fourth album, Love over Gold , which was released on 20 September 1982.Mark Knopfler , John Illsley , Alan Clark , Hal Lindes , and new band member Terry Williams , as well as guest musicians, saxophonists Mel Collins and Paul Williamson, plus Tommy Mandel .the band released a double live album , Hammersmith Odeon in London on 22–23 July 1983, the final two concerts of the tour. The album did not include any overdubs or re-recordings.
