Lucien Paiement


Lucien Paiement was a doctor, municipal politician and owner of racehorses in the Canadian province of Quebec. He served as mayor of Laval from 1973 to 1981. He also operated the Semalu horse stable in Saint-André-d'Argenteuil, Quebec, one of whose horses was Semalu Express.
He was also chairman of the board of the Cité de la santé hospital in Laval, which opened in 1978 while he was mayor.
A short street near the Montmorency metro station in Laval, rue Lucien-Paiement, is named after him.
Paiement died after a long illness at a palliative care facility in 2013 at the age of 80.
