Lucion Pushparaj


Lucion Pushparaj also spelled as Lucian Pushparaj is a Sri Lankan Tamil male professional bodybuilder. He has taken part in several notable international competitions. On 16 December 2018, he went onto become the first Sri Lankan ever to win the World Bodybuilding Championship title.

Career

Lucion Pushparaj was awarded the IFBB Pro status in 2012 and started to take part in domestic and international level competitions. He won his first major competition by securing a gold medal in the 2014 Mr. Sri Lanka Contest.
In 2014, he also became the first Sri Lankan to take part in the internationally renowned US based competition, Mr & Mrs Atlas and Fitness Expo Contest. Lucien also went onto claim a gold medal in the 2017 51st Asian Bodybuilding and Physiques Sports Festival in South Korea. He then secured a silver medal at the 2018 Austrian International Bodybuilding Championship which was held on 19 May 2018.
Luciin emerged as the world champion at the 10th edition of the 2018 World Bodybuilding Championship which was held in Bangkok, Thailand on 16 December 2018. In March 2019, he was awarded the Popular Sports Personality of the Year as a part of the Newsfirst Platinum Awards.

Allegations

Lucion Pushparaj was accused of using banned substance by the Sri Lanka BodyBuilding Federation. The allegations were refused by Lucion, who accused the federation of attempting to tarnish his image and prevent him from taking part in international events representing Sri Lanka.
