Heredia made his pro debut on June 21, 2011, for the Gulf Coast League Pirates. Kevin Goldstein of Baseball Prospectus ranked Heredia the 42nd best prospect in baseball prior to the 2012 season. He spent the 2012 season with the State College Spikes. Prior to the 2013 season, Heredia was ranked as the 78th best prospect in baseball by Baseball America.
