Popular works

While Luther Greene is not very widely known, he is credited on multiple well known films from the 1970's including the most successful short of all time and first ever Star Wars parody, Hardware Wars. Another popular film which Greene is credited on is Lulu ] which was directed by Ronald Chase. The film is based on the play Earth Spirit by German playwright Frank Wedekind, in which the main character is named Lulu. The film portrays Lulu as a young erotic dancer who works her way up the societal ladder before meeting a violent fate. IMDb called describes this film as a "highly stylized, critically acclaimed film from the 70's mixes silent film cards, a soundscape, color, opera music and atmosphere to explore the Freudian truths about men's fear of women that Wedekind powerfully exposed." While Luther Greene is not likely to come up in a film history class, he was obviously a very talented sound mixer as he was hired by very talented and noteworthy directors.
