Macron's oak

Macron's oak was the sessile oak tree that was given by the French president Emmanuel Macron to the United States in 2018.
The oak was originally sprouted at the World War I Battle of Belleau Wood grounds in northern France. The sapling was given by Emmanuel Macron in course of his state visit to U.S. President Donald Trump in April 2018. The tree was ceremonially planted by both presidents on the White House lawn, and then put to mandatory quarantine.
According to Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service at least two years of monitoring and testing may be required before the tree and the backup tree can be planted.
According to Le Monde the oak tree given by Macron has died in quarantine. There are no messages about the status of the backup tree.
