Madeleine King

Madeleine Mary Harvie King is an Australian politician. She is the member for Brand in the Australian House of Representatives. She is a member of the Australian Labor Party and succeeded the previous member, Gary Gray, at the 2016 federal election, increasing the swing to Labor from a nominal 3.7 points to 7.7 points, making Brand one of Labor's safest federal seats in Western Australia.
King was born in Calista, Western Australia, grew up in Shoalwater Bay and went to Safety Bay Senior High School. She was a solicitor before entering politics, and was also chief operating officer of the USAsia Centre in Perth. Her family ran a drapery shop in Rockingham. She is the first person to represent the federal seat of Brand who grew up in the electorate.
In June 2018, King was selected to fill a vacant place on the Opposition front bench, replacing Tim Hammond.
