shores
of
Lake Geneva
. Malakoffs are sometimes served as an
hors d'oeuvre
. The name
comes
from the
Battle of Malakoff
, the
dish
itself having been
invented
by
Swiss mercenaries
during the
siege of Sevastopol
.
