Malvik Church


Malvik Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Malvik municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Malvik. It is the church for the Malvik parish which is part of the Stjørdal prosti in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1846 by the architect G.O. Olsen. The church seats about 700 people. The church building was consecrated on 18 November 1846 by the Bishop Hans Riddervold.

History

The first church at Malvik was a stave church that was built in 1449. That church lasted until 1586. The second building was constructed in 1596, but it only lasted until 1654. The third building was built in 1656 and it was in use until 1846. The present building was completed in 1846 and it has been in use since that time.
