Maow

Maow was a Canadian indie rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. A pop punk combo, the band was part of the "cuddlecore" scene led by cub.
Maow consisted of guitarist Tobey Black, bassist Corrina Hammond and drummer Neko Case. All three members shared vocal duties.

History

Black, Hammond and Case originally came together under the name Meow. The trio released a six-song EP, I Ruv Me Too on the independent record label Twist Like This in 1995.
Maow performed at various venues in British Columbia, including the Gastown Music Hall in Vancouver.
The band changed the spelling of its name to Maow to avoid confusion with another group. They released their full-length album on 11 June 1996, The Unforgiving Sounds of Maow, on Mint Records. The album had fourteen original tracks, the best known of which was "Ms. Lefevre", and two cover songs.
Case later went on to a solo career as an alternative country star and sometime vocalist with Canadian power pop ensemble The New Pornographers. Black currently plays with the indie rock band The Gay.
