Marion, Shelby County, Indiana


Marion is an unincorporated community in Marion Township, Shelby County, in the U.S. state of Indiana.

History

Marion was platted in 1820. The community was named for Francis Marion, an army officer during the American Revolutionary War, A post office opened at Marion in 1823. The post office was later renamed Noah and was discontinued in 1902.
Marion once contained a high school which closed in about 1908.
